Joan and her sister, Ellen, were raised in a wonderful Christian home by parents who faithfully served Jesus Christ through the Methodist Church they all attended. Joan’s faith and love for music were also nurtured through the songs she and her family sang around the piano.
After graduating from high school, Joan became disillusioned with life and began to stray far from her faith and from God. Then after 20 years of wandering spiritually, a number of circumstances, plus the prayers and interventions of others, renewed her faith in God, caused her to give her life to Jesus Christ, and inspired her to go into full-time ministry serving as a chaplain and later as a pastor before retiring.
Joan is a native Atlantan who lives in Oxford, Georgia with her husband, Alex, and their adorable cat, “T.C.” She is a passionate songwriter, singer, and musician whose music stirs the souls of others, drawing them deeper into God’s presence. She credits God for inspiring her songs and opening doors for them to be shared with many others.
In the past, Joan has served as a pastor, chaplain, and worship leader and presently serves as a volunteer with Longleaf Hospice. Together, with her husband, who is a fulltime hospice chaplain, they lead worship services in assisted living facilities.
Joan also leads both sacred and secular sing-alongs in senior facilities where she has witnessed the power of inspiring music in the lives of others.
